Founders Story

John V. McShane, J.D.

For nearly 50 years, John has been a passionate activist and thought leader for lawyer and law student wellness. His work includes co-founding Dallas Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, helping shape lawyer assistance programs, and expanding the profession’s focus to include resilience, stress management, depression, anxiety, relationships and process addictions.

In 2001, John incorporated the Professional Wellness Institute, now rebranded as McShane’s Mission — No Lawyer Stands Alone. In 2008, he began The Monday Night Group, a weekly support group for attorneys, judges and law students experiencing depression, anxiety disorders and other mental health challenges.
